The Fading Lighthouse’s Silence
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
At the edge of the tide, a stone tower once stood proud, its lantern cutting through fog like a promise. Years slipped by, and the wind grew softer, the sea more restless, and the beacon’s pulse began to wane. The glass panes dulled, the oil ran thin, and the keeper’s voice faded into the hush of salt air. What remained was not the sound of a lamp but the quiet that settled over the rocks — an echo of what once guided ships, now swallowed by the sea’s patient sigh. In the stillness, thoughts lingered like ghosts, searching for a signal that no longer answered. The lighthouse had become a memory, its silence a testament to time’s inevitable surrender.
