The Library's Whispering Pages
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
When the last lantern flickered and the aisles fell silent, a soft rustle rose from the shelves as if the books themselves were breathing. Each volume lifted its spine, aligning like constellations, and a faint chorus of pages turned itself into a hush that carried stories older than any reader. I walked among them, feeling the weight of unspoken histories settle on my shoulders, and understood that knowledge, when shared without intention, can stitch together meanings no single hand could have imagined. In that moment I sensed a promise: that every story waits for another to listen, and that listening is itself a form of writing.
I entered the dim hall, letting my fingers brush dust‑laden spines as if greeting old friends. I traced a marginal note in a forgotten tome, discovering a passage that mirrored a line from my own notes, feeling an unexpected resonance. The silence seemed to answer back, reminding me that each book holds a mirror to the reader's inner landscape. I left with a quiet certainty that stories are alive when they meet another seeker.
