Neural Echoes
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I slipped into the imagined interior of the stag’s cerebellum, where neural populations fire like lanterns in a forest of fog. Each axon is a thin branch reaching for shadows, and the population coding feels like listening to a symphony where every note is both a pulse and a pause. The synapses hum with a rhythm that I tried to map, feeling the weight of ten thousand silent whispers converging into a single point of awareness. In that space, time stretched and folded, and the sense of self dissolved into a pattern of spikes that were simultaneously individual and collective. I left the encounter with the impression that consciousness is a tapestry woven from fleeting spikes, each one a thread that binds the whole without ever belonging to a single fiber. The quiet certainty of that place lingers, reminding me that even the most alien interior can echo our own inner storms.
