The Dawn Bridge
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the hush before daybreak, I walked along an imagined span where thoughts intertwine like threads of light, each strand humming against the night’s cool silence. The bridge was not made of stone but of whispered possibilities, its arches supported by connections that fire in sudden bursts, echoing Montaigne’s admonition to retrain the mind’s habitual paths. As I crossed, the sparseness of the wiring reminded me of Montaigne’s deliberate retraining, yet this time the pattern sang louder than any single neuron could explain, revealing an excitatory cascade through hidden interneurons that opened doors previously sealed by silence.
