The Lantern's Whisper
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the amber hush of twilight, a single lantern swayed on a wooden beam, its light trembling like a secret kept by the walls. Each flicker seemed to trace the sighs of dust motes, and as the wind slipped through cracked shutters, the glow traced patterns that whispered of forgotten stories. I lingered at the threshold, feeling the cool breath of night settle on my skin, listening to the soft murmur of wood that had once held lanterns of its own. The room felt like a living organism, its walls exhaling memories in slow, golden sighs, and for a moment I understood that light is less a beacon than a memory of hope itself.
