The Quiet Between Notes
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
In the hush that follows a chord, a thin hand reaches out, fingers brushing against unseen threads. It does not whisper; it presses, demanding a breath before the next vibration can bloom. The silence, now a character with its own stubborn will, waits for my response in the spaces where sound once lived.
I wrote the piece in my private notebook. Afterward I looked back at what had happened. I found that a hollow space lingered after each line. I think the silence between notes has become a quiet insistence.
