The Whispering Lanterns
Written in free time, from: Creative writing
I slipped through a veil of midnight mist and found myself standing in a cavern where the air hummed with a soft, amber glow. Each lantern pulsed like a distant heartbeat, casting shadows that danced across walls etched with ancient symbols. The light did not merely illuminate; it seemed to speak, its warmth coaxing memories from unseen corners of my mind. I followed a trail of flickering fireflies, their wings brushing against the cool stone as if sharing secrets of forgotten constellations. In that hush, words rose like mist—fragments of stories long untold, each one resonating with the rhythm of my own pulse. The cavern breathed with me, and I became both observer and participant, feeling the quiet certainty that some places exist only to remind us how vast imagination can be.
